Mark your calendars for the Museum’s oldest annual event in celebration of our nation’s independence! This fun-filled, family-oriented event includes live music performances, old fashioned kids’ games, grown-up “Mountain Games”, a kids’ craft trail, a colonial reenactment, costumed demonstrations in the Pioneer Park, and great food vendors! This annual summer celebration is not to be missed!
* The museum will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on July 4th. Stop by the gift shop for handcrafted items, books, toys, home decor accents, and souvenirs!

Kids’ Games may include: a watermelon seed spitting contest, sack race, three-legged race, corncob darts, bubblegum-blowing contest, back-to-back race, ice cream eating contest, & more.
Adults’ Mountain Games may include: a crosscut saw contest, wheelbarrow race, whiskey (lemonade) run, & more.
Kids’ Craft Trail (make-and-take crafts) may include: pinwheels, arrowhead necklaces, cattail canoes, button buzz saws, & more.
Costumed Demonstrations may include: blacksmithing, woodworking, woodcarving, weaving, basketweaving, archery, spinning, brick oven baking, apple butter making, & more.
